What is it with these Duck dynasty people? They are all over Walmart too.
And where were corn mazes when I was a kid? ..... The giant jumpy pillows, bungee rope thingees, corn 'guns', "sandboxes" filled with corn? Not in the 1970's in Alabama apparently. I remember a hayride and I definitely remember the fair with the creepy carny folk where I threw up on the scrambler. But the pumpkin patch / face painting/ petting zoo/ kind of AGRI-AMUSEMENT, I have never seen before until the last few years.
Tonight my husband and I went to a corn maze-our first together in our 16 years as a couple. The only time I've done a maze before was with a girlfriend and we were hopelessly lost and followed other people out who looked like they knew what they were doing. Until we realized that group didn't have a clue and found another group to follow out. It was blazing hot that day, we were sunburned, and both had to 'recover' from our sore knees and feet after that maze day.
But tonight, my husband and I did the corn maze/ fall festival event at sunset. Purple and White moonflowers bloomed amongst the corn and at times we felt completely isolated way out in the fields. I was surprised we didn't get 5000 steps on my pedometer ( my husband is an ace navigator). Food wise, the only food I wanted from the fair was roasted corn. They gotta have corn. No corn. What corn maze doesn't have roasted corn? They had funnel cake and candy and caramel apples and hotdog / burger fare. No corn, no more of my money then.
To home we went with the lighter chicken and veg and corn on the cob from KFC. We split an apple with a drizzling of caramel sauce at home as we watched Sleepy Hollow.
Fall fare done right too.
